Our Why
An Insightful Life is a platform created to share the joy of living in a world guided by G-d and the unity of an aligned universe of love. We believe that through prayer, meditation, art, poetry and acts of service, we can connect with God and find purpose in our lives.
My story
Who am I and how did I get here?
My name is M, and here is my story.
I am a both an empath and an introvert, a double whammy virtually insuring a childhood and young adulthood plagued with insecurities.
I was however, also blessed with a equal measure of insatiable curiosity. Books became adventures, characters became friends, and a rich and interesting inner life flourished at a young age.
When other girls played with dolls, I had ventriloquist dummies.
When other kids had puppies or kittens, I had a pet rat. And a snake.
When other girls were reading Judy Blume, I had read all of Irving Stones’ biographical novels, ‘The Agony and the Ecstasy’ (Michelangelo), ‘The Origin’ (Charles Darwin), and ‘The Passions of the Mind’ (Freud), and had a copy of The I Ching and Linda Goodmans ‘Sun Signs’ on my nightstand.
None of the above made me very popular, but I truly don’t recall minding much. Occasionally friends would move in and then out of my life, confused and likely bored with me. I found myself, on the other hand, infinitely interesting.
I was and still am, never bored.
I was blessed to not only have a breadth of interesting experiences and met wonderful people and also able to travel extensively throughout Europe and China over the years.
I raised my sons, and it was a good and contented existence for many years.
Like all of us who have actually LIVED our lives, there have been wonderful high moments, as well as life altering challenges.
And so…the real and transformative growth began around 10 years ago, as I slowly became aware of the disconnect between the narrative I had embraced about ‘who’ I was, and the quietly emerging truth of who I was really meant be, coupled with a pervasive lack of identifiable and actionable purpose.
About 5 years ago, a very intentional and profound shift took place, a vertical trajectory of identifying and re-aligning with core values, personal integrity with deep understanding and awareness of self and purpose.
Having connected through serendipitous acts of G-d and the universe with a handful of people who ‘saw’ me, and encouraged me to change my life, I slowly but very intently, began to write, to paint, to reconnect with my music, poetry and all of those parts of me that had lain dormant over the years.
And so, through a long lasting and interesting career and several shorter lasting, but also interesting personal relationships, I have finally settled back into the skin (oh how I wish that were true😊) of that wonderfully independent, quirky and endlessly curious 10-year-old girl.
I sit now, basking in Abundance and Gratitude, equipped with resilience and courage, and my ever-present curiosity, eager, willing and able to share my experience with anyone for whom it is either interesting or useful in any way.
